Life On The Farm As The Years Fly Bye

We All Learn At a Different Pace

What did I learn about myself through my 4-H participation?

I learned that it is not easy to be 16 and on the edge of adulthood.

Head - to clear thinking, when giving your word to someone, think about how it will affect your heart if you buckle to peer pressure and go against your morals and ethics .

Heart - to greater loyalty; loyalty is something that is given freely and cannot be demanded or forced upon someone.

Hands - to larger service, you can only do what you feel is right and work hard to achieve your goals.

Health - to better living; if your word is your honor, and you stand fast to your morals and ethics; loyalty will come to you freely, your goals will be realized, and you will make a difference in the world around you.

I love 4-H !

Peer pressure is one of the hardest things we face; stay true to yourself no matter how hard it is and make a difference!

2012 was a long year starting in January  with the 2011 4-H Western National Round Up In Denver Colorado. It was a non stop year, and before I new it the 2012 year came to a close. I love 4-H and it is hard to believe I am starting my 9th year; I guess time truly flies bye when you are doing something you love to do.

My goal when I started 4-H was to do the best that I could and only take projects that I was truly interested in, This year was a great year for me, I worked hard and as a result I was honored to received the following Certificates of Achievements for; Top Gaining 4-H market Beef, Outstanding 4-H Beef Project, Champion Registered Cow/Calf Pair, Outstanding 4-H Red Angus Breeding Project, the Magic Valley Cattle Association Award, 4-H Horse Cart Class Reserve Champion, Top Horse senior Record Book, Top Senior Horse Showmanship, Grand Champion Horse Showmanship, Top overall 4-H Horse project, Best County Horse Oral Presentation, Top District Horse Presentation, Top District Public Speaking Presentation, Second Overall District Senior  Presentation, Best Livestock Judging Project, Top Senior Livestock Judging team ( Lincoln County), First Place Overall Judging team FCS skills Contest, FCS Skills Contest Highest Senior Judge, Best Modeling Project, Top Modeling Project Model, Advanced Quilting, Advanced Consumer & Family Science , Citizenship, Leadership & Personal Development, and Best Overall Senior Non Animal Project.

As I find myself closer to the end of my time in 4-H I want to state that my Heart belongs to the Beef and Agriculture Industry. These last few years I will work to pass the love and knowledge of Beef  and Agriculture Industry to the younger 4-H members, before heading off to College to pursue my dream of being an active member of the Beef Industry.

There Be Cattle On the Place !

My vacation is over; and it is time for the new 4-H projects to begin. All my steers are now in their pens and the breaking them to touch and to lead process has started.  This time of year is a lot of fun; I love naming my steers. It seems like the weather here can't make up it mind if it whats to be cold or spring like; so I will take advantage of the nice days and get as much done on my market animal project as possible. So let the fun begin!

Good luck with your projects.

Got to Love NinjaJen

I started thinking about how hard it must be to find an older post on my blog for those of you who visit my blog.
So I ask my mom how we could make it easier for you? My Mom is not a blog building expert but she knows someone who is NinjaJen is that person; so mom went to her blog and looked to see if she has a step by step posting for how to add a search window to my blog, and what do you know she did. Mom added it for me and I listed some of my passed blog titles for you just type part or all of the title in the search window and it will take you to that posting. The search window is on the left side of my blog.
I have a lot more postings you can type in key words and see what pops up.

I hope the search window makes it easier for you to find the information you are looking for. If you have a blog or would like to build one go to the bottom of my blog and there is a link to NinjaJen's blog that is where Mom got all the cool effects that are on my blog.
Thank You Jen and Mom.

Neighbor Helping Neighbor ( Shoewmaker Brothers Cattle )

We live in a very small town called Bliss; truly if you were to blink you would miss it. Here in the country the things that we see everyday we take for granted. Like deer running across our yard or large herd of antelope standing in the neighbor's winter wheat field grazing. Cattlemen bringing their cattle herds in off winter-feed. I never gave these sights a second thought. With in our small community we have quite a few large cattle ranches; we have Red Angus, Black Angus, Saler, and cross-bred cattle just to name a few.
The fact is if you were to type the names of these ranchers into the search engine they would pop up. If you eat beef; the product of these rancher hard work is more than likely to be on your dinner table. These Ranchers are of the old west ways, the cattle are free range they have acres and acres to graze and roam.
Just the other day while driving home it just so happened that the Shoewmaker Brothers were doing what cattle ranchers do, bring their cattle in off winter feed. That task is not a one or two man job; in fact it is a family affair. Instead of waving and driving by. We stopped and ask if we could take some pictures to share on the Internet. Ranchers are very proud of their labor of love and life style, they grow beef to feed the world.

Some of the people in these photos are family, some are friends and others are neighbors, there to help.

Too some these pictures are just another day on the ranch or farm; For those of you who live in the city I just wanted you to see that some traditions live for ever.

Neighbor helping Neighbor - United we stand divided we fall

I would like to thank the Shoewmakers for allowing us to use their family's name and photos. Also to let them know that it was very nice to meet them.
